Please Help! I bought a betta who is in a cycled 5 gallon tank. In the store he looked fine but when I got home he hid out for about a day and a half I didn’t want to stress him out so I left him alone. Yesterday I opened the top of my aquarium and I noticed he had red spots on his head he isn’t eating and I dissolved a half teaspoon of aquarium salt and turned the temperature up to 80 and I’m not sure what to do. I feel horrible for him. I am nervous it could be hole in head or maybe ammonia burns please help

Hi and welcome to the forum :)

It's either poor water quality or a bacterial infection.

Test the water for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and pH. Post the results in numbers here.

Maybe return the fish to the store and swap it for another. But drain and refill the tank with dechlorinated water before you put another fish in it.
