Hi All.
I have some frogs in my tank. not sure which ones they are. thay just look like normal frogs but a lot smaller!
1 of the females has overnight got a massive belly! she looks like she is going to pop! what could be wrong with her. i know she is female as the place i got her from showed me how to tell the sex of them. any help i will be so gratefull for. thanks
just had a look on the net and the frogs are African Dwarf Frogs.

sounds like the frog has dropsy, which most often proves fatal,

unfortunately this is often caused when either the tank quality is less than good, (this could either be the water quality or the actual cleanliness of the substrate in the tank) or a poor diet is given.

Thanks for answering so fast. i feed them on bloodworm. and my tank is clean. but it does sometimes look cloudy! i have checked ph levels & they are spot on!
if it is dropsy will it affect my other fish & frogs. & what can i do to help her.

do you check nitrate, nitrite and ammonia? these are the ones that need monitoring, the ph will rarely differ so is almost pointless monitering,

how often do you gravel vac ?

bloodworm alone is bad for frogs as it is too high protein based to be fed as a staple diet and therefore makes them bloat, they should be fed bloodworm in moderation along with daphnia, tubifex, and shrimp,

If she's really really looking like she's about to pop then i don't know what that might be but I have a male and female couple of ADF's and my female has grown a lot since i got her. I was worried about how big she was compared to the male so i looked it up and it is normal for females to get quite big. Now she's fine but it could possibly be pregnancy?

Pictures please?
You mean, shes like a circle? Balloon shaped?
Cause, it's normal to have a female larger than a male. (if you're comparing her to the other frog's sizes)
