Platy with a sword coming out of it's tail

Hi people,

Well it's a gorgous day down here in the UK and i happened to pop into one of my local petshops and noticed an aquarium full of platies but these were different they had the normal platy body but they had a spike coming out of the middle of the cardual tail? totally different to a normal sword. Is this what you get when you cross a swordtail and a platy? It was quite interesting to see.

From everything I have read, when platys and swords cross the result is the males have short swords. Take a look at this link and see if its not what you seen.

Hyperlink doesn't work mate. No these platies tails were like pointed tail variety of the guppy. I have fallen in love with some Pineapple Sword tails too that i saw in Maiden Head Aquatic's absolutly lovely jubely they will be popped into my new tank when i go and collect the flaming thing!!!!
