platy looks ill

Hi, just noticed my little female platty looks a little odd, her belly looks increadibly swollen and she is not very energetic.
she has moved but was sitting on the floor for about the last hour not even flapping her fins.

my 3 others are fine.

i did a water change today but i dont think that would of effected her as she was swimming around like made during/after and wolfed down food like nobodys buisness.

please help!

What were water test results?

What else is in the tank?

How big is the tank and what temp are you running at?

Also, have you had any recent deaths?

just 3 other platies at the mo, 2 more female 1 male.
she is swiming around but she look big compaired to the others.
its a new tank setup, amonia is 0 and nitrite is about 0.25.
oh and no deaths.

I was going to suggest she was pregnant before I read your last reply....CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Are you going to seperate the fry or leave them in with the adults?

is it best to separate? will the other platies eat them?

umm maybe not..because i have some platys that had some 10 or so fish that were hatched..soo I doubt it..but I don't know..50/50

on another note my little little platie called Dizzy died, no obvious reasons just in the space of 20 mins went funny swam sideways, spiraled then died.
weired the others are fine, my tanks turning into a bit of a nursery at the moment.

Platy adults will eat platy fry unless there is plenty of places to hide in the tank...

If you want to keep some fry, it would be best to put the babies into a breeders net....or just play law of the jungle
