Ok so i got 7 platies, 2 of them male. I turn on the lights this morning and one of the females has a slit on her tail fin, it looks like somone got scissors and cut straight into her fin, its a perfect cut! There are NO irregualities in her behavior at all. Could it be that she just ate too much and got so fat that her tail fin expanded and split? Thanks

My platy's have had slit in there tail, they soon heal in good water quality, maybe add some salt to the tank if you have no scaless fish.

add a little salt

it happend with my keyhole cichlid,he clamped hi fins and when he opened them there was a perfect cut.just do water changes and it should heal up with in a week

My male guppy once tore his tail after he got hyper :hyper: and went skydiving out of the 2 meter high tank(he landed hard :S ). Healed after a few weeks.

one of my bettas (blue) split his tail right down the middle. i just added a little salt and melafix and it was almost back to normal in 1 week!!!

Maracyn by mardel works too. just fixed my male sunset fire platy's tail, like, yesterday.
