This morning I saw my male sunset platy has sadly passed away but I don’t understand why, he was very energetic last night and it didn’t seem like something was wrong, he has a tiny white area on his body I don’t know if that is it, can someone please tell me what happens

Thank you

I think getting an API Master Test Kit asap is needed.

Can you tell us did you cycle the tank? How did you set up.ot at beginning and how long wait before adding fish?

I know I will do my best to get one

I don’t think I did it properly. I poorer the water in and added the decorations and then I added the water conditioner drops, I let it rest a day then I let the pump run for about 2 hours before adding the fish

Without test results it's hard to say but it's important to read about cycling the tank.

It's possible you could have an issue with ammonia. I would do daily big water changes until your test kit arrives. This will be best chance of helping tank stabilise and save fish.

How big water changes?

How big water changes?

When my fish started dying I did 75% water changes daily and got the test kit. I kept up 75% daily changes until my ammonia and Nitrite were 0. It took me 12 days to get the tank stable. Now I only need weekly water changes & don't get any readings above zero for Nitrite and Ammonia. No more fish deaths & actually I know have about 12 platy fry growing strong.
