Hi when I bought my platy fish from pet shop it was already big and shop person said she might be pregnant but was not sure! Now I after few weeks she is still the same and has not delivered any babies. I was worried if she is really pregnant or bloated or something else. I am new to all this so not really sure what to do. I have put her separate.

She is definitely pregnant. And close to giving birth.

If you want the fry to survive add lots of plants for the fry to hide in when they are born. If you have another tank to move the fry to you can carefully scoop them out with a paper cup to transfer them. Avoid netting the mother or the fry.

Do not use a breeder box as this will stress the mother and can kill both her and the fry

Thank you so much. I will keep her separate in an other tank and will definitely add more plants.

Do the same way of catching her with a cup, a net can kill her fry

Now my fish has started pooping alot.... Don't think I have over fed her but she is pooping alot in the form of long string..
Not white thought.... Just worried if she is okay or is it normal?

My fish often do big stringy poops before giving birth. Just keep an eye on it
