oh yer and ive got a pair of guppies already in there. they had sum babies about 3 weeks ago, but ive noticed the female is now hiding alot and is a bit chunky. can she give birth like.. now ?? or will it not be until the fouth week..??

It won't be long before she pops but about the betta thing. You should be able to keep bettas and platies together I have done it and had no problems whatsoever but I have had easy going bettas that would not flare at anything except another betta.

We have also had threads where somebody has had problems with the betta/platy combination. So it seems to be a matter of personality.

No to platies and betta in my experience. You may end up buying another tank just for the betta like i did lol. i have the interpet guide to community fish and it states that a betta is a community fish, however so many people have been unsuccessful with them in community tanks i dont think its worth stressing your other fish out to try it!

TRY it by all means but be prepared. There is absolutely no reason not to give it a shot.

I had a bad experience with sunset platys & my betta's. I lost the male eventually, so decided to put the 2 females in with just guppy's, neons & some honey's. Then the poor honey's had nothing but trouble from the male betta so the honeys ended up with the platys.

i had a male fighter and put him in with my 2 red platies but when i came home the next day half of the platies were missing and they were hiding so i had to take him back, i now have females in with my platies and they are fine together

Our betta once took a nip out of one of our female platies (bright red in color). She was so stressed, ended up not eating and didn't make it.

I have a baby sunset platy in with my betta, nothins gone wrong yet. I wanted to keep it seperate from the other fry because it looked different and didnt want to lose it in the crowd if ya know what I mean. They get along well, platy just stays out of the betta's way.
