Platty Attack

Hi just lost three plattys in the tank with no explanation until i saw my 5 tiger barbs attacking the third has anyone experienced this ? Is this normal and should i re house my remaining plattys

YES! tiger barbs are little buggers! I find if you add more, they pick on eachother all the time and your other fish are fine. Though its best to house them with less "nice fish" than platies. I hear they work well with Firemouths and convict cichlids

Sorry for your loss. Contrary to what you read in a lot of places, IMO, tigers aren't good community fish. They are way too aggressive. As mentioned, sometimes, adding more will spread the aggression amount them making other tank mates safer.

I am completely in agreement with RDD. Tiger barbs deserve the name tiger and are not welcome in any of my tanks.
