Can a sword tail and a platty mate?If so is there an equation?

I don't know about this equation but yes they can breed as their closely related.

yes they can crossbreed, thats why you see similar colours appear in both species, there won't be much difference visually IMO, only difference is that swords are longer and not as deep bodied
