platies nipping

I just yesterday bought a new female platy to be with my only male . The problem is that he is chasing and nipping at her . He seems to be a mean little bugger , and picked on the other male platy I had. The female is bugling, (I think she was prego when i bought her) will he make her miscarry? Is this normal or is he just a mean one? thanks 4 yer help =)

It's his temperament. I would highly advise adding 1 if not 2 more females. This will curb his aggression. If you don't get another female or remove the male, that's a possibility. You can also get breeding traps so she'll be separated (and therefore her fry) from the other fish.
