Plastic Baggies

How long can bettas stay in the plastic bags they put them in from the pet shop? I just redid my tank setup and wanted to wait a little while to put them in there..

Could they run out of oxygen or anything?

Fish that are shipped are in bags for over 24 hours. I've bought & sold fish at auctions that were bagged at room temperature for 12+ hours. I have yet to have a problem with fish bagged for that length of time.

If you already have them, though, it would probably be prudent to put them in a bucket or something of the sort.
