Ok i have had my tank running for over a week with the heater at 28 (thought that was ok)

Anyway i have just got home from work and the plants at the bank of the tank (the long thin ones) are brown and seem kinda dead, is this right ? the little kyoto plant is fine though. I have turned it down now to 27, is this right or shoudl it be at 28 ? any ideas sounds like they got fried / to hot ?

Also when you add neons to a tank, is it common for them to kinda sit at the bottom back of the tank ? thought they had died or something but now seem a bit better.

Any ideas ? Cheers guys

To ur first question. Most aquarium plants r best to kept at arround 75f. But alot of them can be thrive even in the 82-84. So u aren't over heat by that much and that usually ain't the cause of plants burn unless its a species which cant takes heat. As u didn't mantion what name of ur plants there ain't much I can tell u. But in alot of case plants will die like from lag of fertilze/low lighting etc.... which u can find over on plants forums. So go post there for more help if need as I see ur tank is fairly new, the cycle is probably not yet establish. Neon tetra isn't really a good obtion to started with on a brand new tank. That probably still cycling. I personally start with 3-4 feeder to test water and let them do there cycle job inside a newly set up tank for a monthes or so before adding any othe fish. But in ur case if ur neon doesn't have any problem like sign of stress/illness then its ok. Most fish will hide when they were introduce to a brand new tank. Like my clown loaches lol they hide for almost 3 days. Before I even see their face appear on the back of my tank. Any ways good luck to ya:).

maybe leave plants for a while and concentrate on the water quality, fish etc.no one can grow all plants.we all find out which plants we can grow and which plants we can't.the amount of plants that have died on me,and probably lots of other people is (too many to mention lol)talk to staff at your local fish shop and see what plants they have that are easy to grow.i stick with amazon swords, vallis etc.

we had the long skinny plants also, these started going really brown and stragely when we increased the temperature during a bought of white spot. we have lowered the temp now and they all seem to be thriving again (temp is just over 76)!
java fern are really hardy plants, ours seem to survive everything!! even when the silver dollars decided to try them as a snack! ;)
