Ok, i have 1 plant in my tank and have spent over £40 on others, they are ok for manybe a week or two before the fish in the tank strip them to nothing, have tried buying all the same, different bunches but they just eat them all. The do not seem to touch the other plan, dont know what it is but it is taking over 50% of the bottom of the tank floor space

suggestions? idea's on what else i can put in?

What fishes do you have? Could you describe or get a picture of the one remaining plant? Two plants that fish rarely eat are Anubias species, and Java fern. They might work, depending on your tank.

 good questions and good advice

it is normal to see plants getting eaten especially if u keep omnivore fishes. To prevent this, I was told to put lettuce or cucumber in the tank..I did it and they have stopped eating my plants.

Wow that's quite a plant!! I hope you're proud of it.

The picture is a bit fuzzy but the plant looks like it could be Anubias barteri. It's very similar to the one I have but yours is about twenty times bigger. It would explain why the fish have lefti t too, cos the leaves are tough and taste nasty.

If you want other plants, look for java fern and/or java moss. Tie them to wood/rocks or plant the fern but make sure the rhizome isn't covered by gravel.

Other than that you could try providing your fish with more vegetables in their diet to dissuade them from eating the plants. Lettuse, blanched courgette/broccoli/spinach etc. Have you noticed which fish are doing it? My bet woul be on the plec and the livebearers.

where abouts in the UK are you?

I have a bucket of java fern that needs a bit of TLC (and a good home)

PM me if you want some ;)

say £5 for a large bunch (posted)

It's not in great condition but i couldnt bring myself to throw it all out so it has litterally been in a bucket for 8 weks :*)
