How do you know if you have too many freshwater plants? Is there such a limit? I have a ten gallon tank. What percentage of the tank should be plants? I'm afraid if I stock the tank with two many plants, they'll grow to engulf the tank...of course I'll have to prune to prevent this.

Well its not easy to 'overstock' with plants, altho I did at one stage, the fish barely had room to move lol so they all had to be chopped back and problem solved :)

nope, the more plants, the more oxygen produced, and also they keep the nitrAte down, and of corse look great ;) :D

What's the best way to properply prune plants? Where on the plant do you cut? And when you do cut, can you transplant that into another tank to grow on it's own? Thanks.

Hi Josh, it all depends on which plant were talking about...?

Many plants you can propagate from cuttings....

....I'd wait and see how successfull you are with them and if so then with which types....and go from there ;)

:)

I have anacharis or whatever you call them. They never seem to root though after I cut them and plant them back in the tank. The fish always find a way to pluck them or dig them out.
