I would like to spruce up my Oscar Tank by adding some plants. I have read on this forum that Java Fern is a good plant to add to an Oscar Tank. I also read it is a good idea to anchor the Java Fern on some driftwood. I would like to know how does one go about anchoring Java Fern to driftwood? I would also like know if Water Sprites would do well in an Oscar Tank? Also, to keep these plants would I need to add any special lighting or anything like that?

Java fern would be good, just use some thread or fishing line to tie the fern to a piece of wood or rock. Anubias, which also can be tied to wood, would do ok in an oscar tank. :)

Don't know about the water sprites, but as far as lighting, anubias and java fern do well in low light environments.

an awful lot of oscar's will completely destroy any plants you put in. some won't though, it's a case of trial and error really just stick a few things in and see if it works.

think i'm one of the few people on this forum to have a planted oscar tank, pics in my sig although they're old and hte plants have bushed out a lot recently. :good:

anything deep rooting. amazon swords, anubias-dont plant it goes on wood, i think some wentiis might work too

its a hit or miss situation

Actually, I saw your tanks (both your Oscar Tank and your new Reef Tank) and they are both totally awsome!
