what are some good plants to have in a tank?
i want ones that will live and grow and not have to throw out all the time.
i currently have some that grow but they are out of control!
also i have a plant that i bought growing on a piece of wood, im not exactly sure what it is called but it has some black algae looking stuff on the leaves. it almost looks like its burnt. its been like this for months now and it still grows but once the leaves get bigger they develop this strange black stuff.
what could this be?

When you put a planted tank together you need to pick plant that will live with the type of light and substrates you have. Turns out there is way more to plant keeping then many think. I just put my first planted tank together. A little research goes a long way. Bring this question to the plant section.
