will the plants grow ok with an airstone or should i remove it for the best results ?

I've never noticed any problems with plants and air-stones. I think light and nutrients are the key to healthy plants.

Depends on the plants...

Most should do OK but airstones create more surface aggitation and therefore can help disperse more co2 from the water (co2 good for your plants).....

If you use a co2 reactor for your your plants then an airstone is probably counterproductive :/

If you want to do well with plants then its trying to get a balance between oxygenating the water for your fish and co2 for the plants -_-

I doubt if an air stone would make much difference but plant actually use oxygen all the time while respirating.

While there is light they photosynthisis and produce oxygen. during the night howere they don't use any CO2 and use O2.

My tanks are quite heavily planted. I do not run an airstone during the day, partially because I don't want the added gas exchange at the surface of the water (loss of CO2), but also because the plants produce oxygen when the lights are on. Only one of my tanks gets an airstone at night. I feel the other tanks get enough surface agitation via the HOB filters and they are more lightly stocked with fish than the one that I aerate.
