Discus.jpg

Plants

Amazon swords
Blue stricta
Crypts
Java moss
Vilot

Fish

1x Snake skin discus
1x Black ghost knife
1x royal whiptail catfish
3x red tailed black sharks

CHEERS BEN

good start cichlidboy but i cant make out any Javamoss.

what lighting do you have as those red stem plants are gonna need at least 2.5WPG (at which point you'll also benefit from CO2)

The java moss is located On the peice of drift wood thats under the filter inlet

I couldnt tell you how much light there is i just picked up a light that was good fro growing plants from my local LFS and just chucked it in.

Also forgot to say, the tank is allso co2 injected and has liquid fertilizerr added each water change and fertilizer tabs are added aswell

be carefull, if you dont have enough light the co2 will not be used by the plants, it's all about balance. to find out yout WPG. divide the wattage of your tube by the number of gallons.

ie my 12 gallon has 2x 15W tubes

so 30 divided by 12 = 2.5WPG

you probably need to add another tube or 2 as it looks like at least a 40 Gallon, but not sure as you haven't told us the size.

if you dont have enough light your plants will not flourish and the fertaliser will only be used by algae.... then you'll have a problem. best to sort it first "trust me" been there, done that.

(i'm off home now for the weekend so over to everyone else...)
good luck

Looks nice. Are those plants new by any chance?

edit - I've just read your fish stocking. 3 Red-Tailed Sharks seems to be looking for trouble, they're very territorial - I assume they're juvenile. Also Discus are a social fish prefering to live in pairs or groups. Your Black Knife Fish may grow to 18 inches and the Royal Whiptail Catfish to 12 inches. Have you researched your fish selection? To put it politely your 2 foot tank is far too small to house those fish.

wow, you need to get diffrent fish...

and is that blue thing really safe for the fish? Looks like it is a painted ceramic.

also is there a little shark in the corner? It looks like one, and man is it tiny!

firstly that tank is wayyy overstocked!get rid of all of them and get some smaller things, mabe afew shoals theres endless possibliltyss,i like tanks looking more natural but it looks good :D

i think he we would know by now that his tank is overstocked, maybe its time to stop telling him, you know how this sometimes gets, loads of people start telling a new aquariust that their tank is overstocked, gets mad, keeps fish, fish die, comes back saying sorry etc etc
anyway...
Nice tank
maybe, once you have re done your stocking options, get a school of Neon Tetra/Cardinal Tetra, Guppys and other small colourful fish, and your tank will look supurb

DD

I think some orange or reds from harliquin rasbora would be very nice, maybe a dozen. And add a few upper level dwellerrs and some cories or something for the bottum and you will have yourself a very pretty tank!

Once those plants all fill out it will look lovely, nice planting mate! :)

I spose i should have told the sizes of the fish. but do you really think im that stupid to put al those fish into one tank and not moving them ??. The ghost knife is only 4-5cm. the discus is only bout 6-7cm. the royal is only about 4cm and sharks are only bout 4cm. so at the moment its not crowded. most of these fish are moving to a 5ft soon as i have not recived the tank yet. So yes i know how much its over crowded but not when most of the fish are no bigger then 5cm

The tank looks absolutely lovely :) My first attempt at a planted tank was a failure :p You however seem to be doing really well! :D

I don't think they thought you were "stupid enough" (to use your words here ;)). It's just that often enough on this forum, people when just starting their tank way overstock it and keep fish that should not be kept together. Dont take it personal, they were only expressing their concerns :)

Good luck with the new tank coming in soon :D Wish I had place for more of them still -_-

My apologies if you interpreted my concern as an insult. Like you I'm sure, my biggest priority is the well-being of the fish. I'm glad to hear that you will be housing yours in a larger aquarium.

Do you plan on more Discus?

Yes getting more discus when its all sorted out on the larger tank. i have a few on hold now.
