Roots - Yes. Big leaves - No.
Semi aquatic.
 
If given the right conditions the leaves will get to between 1-2ft long.

You can plant it in your tank and the leaves will grow up out the surface till they stand far enough out of the water. They won't stay under water.

Yeah, they should sort themselves out Bit like Lilies, they don't keep all their leaves completely underwater do they? Well, mind didn't XD If you have a lid on can you not make a gap so that when they grow up they can escape as they'll die if they can't get the whole leaf out of the water

You sure? I have no money for a while yet I have 2 corn snakes to sort out first as I was wrongly advised on how to house them and so I now need to spend £61.91 correcting everything
