I have heard that people with a tank with only one bulb in their tank say they cannot grow plants and have since DIY'ed there tank hoods, I have a Rekord 96, and afer 3 weeks my plants are flourishing, I added some laterite and fertilizer balls, and replced the factory standard bulb with a power glow.. so far so good... :-(

And what i wanted ask hehe, will my plants continue to flourish? -_-

depends on the strength of the light. im not good with watts and stuff so dont ask me about that.
i only have one light on my tank and my plants are doing fine

Some plants will do great and others will die off, your best aiming for low light plants such as anubis, java fern and java moss, these can all be attached to rocks and drift wood. Just see how things go and if any die, replace them with the kinds that haven't.

As Emma said, it depends on what type of plants you have. If the balance is right you'll also not get much algae growth. So I would suggest that you dont add too much fertiliser until you get this balance right.

Since the level of light is low, the plants that grow well are slow growing. This also means that algae gets a chance to settle on the leaves.

The only reason people say that you need atleast 2W/gallon is that with this level of lighting its easier to get the balance right.

So if you find that you are having trouble keeping the algae at bay and the plants are not growing well, take a look at adding that extra tube.
