Hey all i'm new to the site have been reading through many posts and there seem to be a lot of people here that really know there stuff, so any way my tank has been running three or more years now but would really like to add some plants just wondering if you could point me in the right direction to what would be a good starting point? i.e nothing too hard to grow and that wouldn't want specific conditions or loads of maintenance? thanks in advance for any advice.

It's my journal. I finished putting it up yesterday. It's also my first low-tech planted tank. Literally a case of plant and then just add water and root tablets (if you're not using nutrient substrates).

EDIT: This is how I started anyway, I'll play it by ear and do a little research on the way :) Not sure if it helps as much as the PARC link provided but I hope it makes you see it's not all that complicated.

Plants off the top of my head, and this is not exhaustive
Anubias
Java Fern
Mosses
All the above should be easy and tied to wood/rocks
Also Crypts are simple (may melt at first but will come back)
Vallis is easy if your water is hard.
Amazon swords. Some can get very big, other smaller types are now becoming available.

I can vouch for the dwarf amazon swords. Perfect size for my tank (120 litres, 81cm in length and about 45cm high). Grows to about 20-25cm high apparently. Hope this helps a bit more. All of those plants are minimum care, too. I like my tanks to have a little 'swimming space' at the top for the neons and danios. :) Personal preference, though.

Thanks very much guys some good info to go on there will be having a look at all the suggestions will keep you updated
