Just bought a Juwel Vision 260 and am starting to plan what will go into it - Although I'm really looking forward to landscaping it bit by bit first.

I currently have a 56l tank with:

1 BRTS
1 black molly (& 4 fry but may not be keeping all of these)
3 neon tetras
3 Zebra Danio

I also have a 35l tank with:

2 Zebra danio
2 male guppy

Ideally I would like all the fish to move back in together and get them some new roomies :)

I love the danio's but hear that they can be fin nippers and maybe doesn't go too well with the fish I would like, anyways here is a list of some of the fish I would like. I'd appreciate comments on these particular fish and how they would get on with the above in a 4ft tank also any other idea's would be grand.

The new fish wont be going in for a very long time as I have to sort a few things out before landscaping and cycling the tank and then begin to move my current fish over but no harm in planning huh?

*I dont want all of these as I understand they wont all get on but it's just a guide of what I like:

Centre piece fish such as some kind of gourami
2 or more danio's of any variety taking my schoal to +7
Angel fish (understand neons would have to stay in a smaller tank)
Cherry barb
Tiger barb
Bright coloured, easy to care for schoaling fishes
Some bottom feeders
Swordtails
Platy's

Any list combining as many of my current fish as possible would be really helpful.

Ideally I would like to keep the 56l free for a SFF and some harlequins so perhaps having angel fish and keeping the neons inthe 56l would be a bad idea unless the SFF would get on with neons?

Defo like some bigger, more colourful fish in the new tank as am planning on going all out :)

Thanks in advance

Vicki

I don't know much about barbs or your RTBS, but the platies and swords would be fine with all your other fish. Also, this might be a dumb question, but what is an SFF? I can't come up with what that would stand for....

We have just set up the same tank (pictures just put on the members aquarium pics section). On advice from here we have got a small shoal of dwarf neon rainbow fish (6 of). They are quite drab as juveniles but ours are already starting to colour up ( bright blue with red fins) and they have a lovely shape. Had them for 1 week only but are lovely ,happy fish so far.

What is your pH, we couldn't have quite a few fish due to pH 7.5.

pH is always around 8. Will have to find some piccies of those fish. Is the probem that your pH is too high so you cant have too many?

Yes, many fish prefer lower pH ( though many like higher pH also). They do say that fish can acclimatize but we preferred to get fish that were happier in our pH range. Many of the tetras do best in lower pH.

We used tropical fish finder a lot. If someone suggested a fish I checked on there it it gave the pH,temp and other parameters the fish were best .Also showed pictures which helped though didn't always show fish at their best in my opinion.
