Prepare for a rant everyone.

I was buying neons yesterday at this LFS very close to my home. Their fish are very well taken care of, clean tanks, no dead fish, etc. Except the bettas. This LFS has good knowledge on EVERY fish in their store, except the bettas! :grr: They have a sign in their betta section saying, "GOLDFISH ARE NOT BOWLFISH, GET A BETTA!" and they sell all of those horrible little bowls. I took one, out of curiosity, to the back, and decided to measure how much water it held. 1 cup. EXACTLY one cup. And it was filled almost halfway with gravel and a treasure chest. The store RECCOMENDED these as great betta bowls. That doesn't make me mad however, even though they state that bettas like the smaller bowls...what gets me is that one of their bettas is really sick and they wont help it. They clean those cups every day, feed them, etc. So they aren't ABUSIVE, but this one, poor, dilapidated VT looks like he has every illness in the book, and split fins. He would be a stunning young fish, small, off white. Almost creamy. I have a feeling he will be hidden somewhere in my house later this week. I can't stop thinking about him! And I read everyone's success stories here, and this poor guy needs help.

Poor baby. He sounds really cute.

When you get him, describe him thoroughly to us, and we can help you decide how to treat the little guy if you need some help.

Go ask them if you could take him off your hands - tell them he'll probably die there anyway, and they'll not sell him anyhow. Just see if it works. I know it has worked several times for several people. Give it a try.

If it doesn't... buy him anyway. He needs a loving home. ;)
