Pl Lamps?

I sent a flee bay seller a message asking them whether their nice cheep aquarium luminaries was for T5 or T7 bulbs and their reply was that it was neither - it took PL Lamps.

Can anyone tell me what that means?

I googled in initially but the results don’t tell me how they differ from t5/t7. Are they any good for growing plants for example - what are they equivalent to WPG wise?

Well they are flourescent tubes...so I would presume they're just as good as any other tube wattage wise (so long as you get one that is the right colour spectrum).

However I've never used one myself so can't say for certain.

I'm sure someone on here will have used one at some point.

Yeah I'd say they were similar to the same compact T5s that interpet had out for a while. They were PLLs and cheap replacements could be bought here

So they are comparative to HO T5s as far as I can tell.

However, you might struggle to get replacement bulbs in a colour that you like, so I'd be asking the seller to link to replacement bulbs to you can check the exact fitting and wattage first and make sure you can get replacements.
