just looking at stocking options somewhat intersted in red bellie pirhanas... just like to here some other opions about them

I had five in one tank for a period of 2 years. If anything, make sure to feed them! I went on vacation for 4 days, and came back to find that one was eaten up to the back of its head. It looked like a surgical cut... on top of that, it was still snapping at me when I pulled it out! Other than that, they used to freak out my GF b/c they would line up on the bottom of the tank, shoulder to shoulder, and stare at us. They would move in unision, changing their angle so that they were always watching us. It was messed up man. I will never keep those again. The staring thing... it made me nervous. They were plotting. I swear to god they were plotting.

Aside from all the evil plotting... they are Pacu's with teeth (dumb and ugly).

Ive heard from many who have owned them and read that they are one of those fish that you just dont want to own.

...just think about that one day when you reach in to vacuum gravel and pull your arm out of the tank with the radius and ulna only. LOL SH

PM'ed ya.

It all depends on size of tank.

1 RBP/ 20g

3 RBP/ 55g

5 RBP/ 75g

9 RBP/ 100g

12 RBP / 125g

20+ RBP / 240g+

These fish are big, messy and senseless. They dont come out when they see you, they dont hunt in packs, and unless you starve them, they don't turn the water bubbly when they attack another fish. Exodon Paradoxus "Buck-toothed Tetras" are a lot cooler if you are lookin for a predator, they are much more savage, and they are more active then Tiger Barbs and Danios combined! You can keep them in smaller tanks, and in large schools.
