Pipes For External Filter, What About Plastic Plumbing Stuff?

I am looking for some pipes for my external filter, I can buy a kit for approx £23 but wonder if a slection of bends and plastic pipe, as seen in B+Q, 15mm would do the ame thing.

The inlet into the tank, and the ooutlet into the tank, would this fit onto the hose pipes from the filter ?

Do you mean flexi pipe or ridgid,. Eitherway I have used both from DIY store mentioned when others were not available.
For both water based usage and air pump distribution. (ring main construction).

I mean the push fit 15 mm stuff, just wondering what the diameter of the actual hose pipe that comes off the filter onto the rigid pipe that goes into the tank
