I recently treated my tank with tetracycline for fin rot, yesterday I added charcoal back in the filter to remove the meds from the water, now my water is a dark pink. I've been doing a 25% water change but the water just takes the color back on. What can I do? do I need to do a major water change? I have access to some aged water out of a outside goldfish tub so I could reintroduce bacteria back into the tank, I just don't want to do that if there is still meds in the tank.

Just carry on with water changes, and i would add some fresh carbon again, good luck.
Did the water turn pink straight away when you added the carbon, as it sounds like a chemical reaction.

I went ahead and did a 100% water change. I noticed the water had a perfumey smell and I wanted to get the fish out of it. Right before I had the fin rot break out I bought a plastic aquarium decoration, today I smelled it when I was cleaning the tank and it a strong perfume smell too, the other decorations don't.
Needless to say, I'm not use that decoration in the tank again. I don't know if its to blame for the problems but everything was ok until I added in to the tank. For now on I smell my decorations before I buy them, weird.

Yes, it did it after I added the charcoal.
What is weird is I treaded my other tank and the addition of charcoal cleared the water up overnight. It seems there was something in the 29 gal that was just wrong.

Ok, that weird an ornament smelling of purfume, good luck.
