Well I came down this morning and had a peek inside the tank to find our Angel fish with a pink thing hanging out of its bum- it almost looked like two strings of poo joined together but was only 1.5-2cm long and was a reddish pink colour. i wondered if that were possibly to do with him haing frozen bloodworm last night, however when he swam off it disappeared. his bum looked slightly sore and a bit more open than usual, his belly maybe very slightly bloated. When he's still for a while it starts poking out again... im wondering if its some sort of worm?

ammonia and nitrites are both 0
due a water change today as i missed one at the weekend.

I dont have a way of quarantining him atm so any help how to treat would be great.

I will keep tryin to get a photo but as soon as he moves it goes away and i cant catch it :(

reeeeeeeeally dont want to lose him, he's so so pretty

Hi Bmonki

I will refer you to this thread I read this morning, as it sounds similar, especially when the fish moves away.

http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?/topic/409085-clear-poop/

It sounds like some sort of parasite.

Alistair

managed to take a couple of video's with it partially hanging out...

thanks alistairw, i read that one too, however im not sure its the same as he's been pooing normally up until today :/

i'll be going past the lfs later today so any reccomendations on treatment that wont wipe out my filter will be greatly appreciated!

Could be its breeding tube, it wants to make little baby angels perhaps

would that mean he's a he then? there are no other angels, just him in there so not sure if that would make a difference? he seems fine in himself, not swimming funny or looking at all stressed

Both sexes of angel show breeding tubes. There doesn't have to be a female present; it just means he's in breeding condition.

Actually, I think your angel might be a female. It's hard to tell from that pic (I know it's difficult!), but female's breeding tubes are shorter and blunter than the male's.

also his bum is no longer inflamed and its disappeared completely

actually after a bit of googling i think our boy is infact a girl! but i cant find any pics of a breeding tube that are as long as the first time isaw it (about 1.5 cm) and it was definitely pink not white like most of the pics i can see :/

It looks like a perfectly normal breeding tube to me, bud!

Obviously keep a close eye on the fish, in case of anything untoward, but I'd stop worrying if I were you :good:

its back again, still not as long as before, got some pictures...
