I got some new panda cories today, and on close observation their gills look a little pink. They're not bright red or anything, just a little pink when contrasted with the white of their bodies.Otherwise they look extremely healthy and are very active. Unfortunately I don't recall whether their gills were pink at the lfs or not..

My first thought was ammonia/nitrite poisoning but both these are at 0.

I'm hoping I'm just suffering from "new fish paranoia" - does anyone else have any ideas? Or even a pic of a fish with genuinely red, inflamed gills for comparison?

Thanks for any input
Hopefully I'm jsut being paranoid :)

If your readings are fine, and your other fishes are okay, then you have nothing to worry. Could be they're just oxygenating themselves. Their alertness could be their eagerness to explore their new home. :)

They've made it through the night and are still active and eating well so *hopefully* they should be ok. I think they look a bit less pink too....thatnks for your help kribsinvcrib :)
