pine hood for tank..DIY

in newzealand they dont sell tank hoods sepratly and tanks with hoods are hard to come by..most tanks just have glass tops.

my fish of choice at the moment is the amazon butterfly fish and it jump so now i have to make a hood for my 3 foot tank'

now i need ur help how do i make a hood and what does everyone elces hoods look like..
how do u open them...hinges????
how does it stay on?

help
does anyone know of a place i can get a plan for a hood?
 
Here's mine, took about a hour to make. I used old T&G oregan pine, this if my 4 foot tank. I have one lying round that i made for my old 3 foot, same design. I have 4 floresent bulbs in there, and room for more. I also put a layer of reflective stainless stell on the inside. All in all it cost me about $8 us

I know, it's been a while. I think it was when the site changed its look. I didn't feel so at home anymore :lol:

oh, lol, sorry those are the eheim canister return spray bars. I have them below the surface so not to disturb the water. I want to put regular return openings in the corners but I just haven't gotten around to it yet :rolleyes:
