hey jst curious bout this fish, its in my book and wanted to know a bit more. Its jst called a pike characin (phago maculatus). Its says it will grow it 6inches, its has a stripe down its body.
Looks cool and wuld like to get one, did sum research bt didnt really ave much luck. How big does it grow, can it only be fed on live foods and is it suitable or are there any other suitable for a 40gal.

The name that is now in use is Boulengerella maculatus, in a aquarium they should grow to around 14 inches (36cm) and will require a minimum of a 5x2x2' tank (125g). They can usually be trained to take frozen foods such as whitebait and cockle but live fish are preffered.
They are a very skittish nervous fish and should not be kept in tanks that recieve a lot of traffic in the way of people or pets going past the tank, when startled the fish will throw itself around the tank and can easily damage itself, if the fish damages its long snout it will be unable to eat and starve to death.

o well the book said a 24inch tank lol, o well nt that fish then. I jst wanted a mid level fish, that was an active predator. Any ideas?
