my puffer recently had a minor amonia spike. it was lethargic, after daily water changes, moved onto once a week, the water parameter are ok now

problem is, it doesnt seem to be going for my finger as it used to when i put it in there, today i put a feeder, it ate it fine.

tonight i went to see it, it seemed on, just sitting there as usual, but it seems that the particles in the water has stuck to its skin some of it anwyays, and its a little stringy. i changed water again. added a little salt. while changing water, it moved and all the stuff ripped away and just fell off, but i am just worried as i have never observed it with such closeness before. am i over reacting?

i mean it ate and all. water was ok then.
it just doesnt really do anything lol

and it doesnt seem as hungry as before, i usd to feed every 4 to 5 days, cos it wouldnt want any food before that time.
but this time, it hasnt eaten untill today - for almost two weeks

Why did you add salt?

To be honest all of my puffers at one time or another have had a bit of a sulk. You say you had an ammonia spike, is nitrite 0? as long as water parameters are fine I wouldn't worry too much.

Of course the other issue is using feeders. Unless they're "homegrown" there is always the risk of illness that way.

the salt isa tiny amount i guess
its actually a water conditioner more than anything but contains some salts
i do it to all my 9 tanks when i do a water change. apparently it helps calm fish down after a little stress. true or not, the salt is very cheap lol

silk or sulk, none the less, i guess i shouldnt be so worried then.
water parameters are ok
the amonia spike was ages ago, well almost 3weeks, i guess i fed a lil too much lol

so i shouldnt worry about the sulk/silk?

I'd only worry if they went off their food for longer than a month.
