Hi folks - what do Pigmy Cory fry look like?

while tidying the bedroom tank tonight, Lorna spotted a tiny (and I mean tiny) 'thing' swimming across the bottom of the tank.

Now on closer inspection it appeared to be a fish (we though it may have been a lavae or something)

it was clear with 2 black dots for eyes and along its length it had 3 tiny black specks.

we've thinking it bay be pigmy fry?

any ideas?

I'd have got a piccy - but it vanished into the log/plant combination.

ok - i think we've got Pygmy fry :D

google image search gives this piccy of a 2 week old fry.

imagine this 1.5 weeks earlier :)

It sounds like a cory baby. They are so cute as babies =) Congratulations

Here is a link with pictures of small fry: Corydoras pygmaeus - Spawning log

Edit: First I thought it was a picture of your baby, but then I realised it was a picture you just found. So I needed to edit my sayings

Thanks Rain.

Congratulations on the fry.

Ive never heard anyone breeding a pigmy cory before.

rain- has, thats why I asked.

we wern't even trying which is good :)

there are also no major threats to their survival in the tank now - so fingers crossed they will do it again and now the barbs have been moves - more eggs will make it :D

I am certain they will spawn again. They will continue to do it for some time when they have started it. Good luck with them and let's hope there will be lots of more babies. Pygmy cories are so adorable

They tend to spawn after a partial water change (if the water is good) and if the temperature drops or raises a bit. But I'm sure you don't have to do anything special to get them spawning again. Just feed them well, take a good care of their tank and enjoy. This is one of the best parts of this hobby. :)

It looks like they are at it again...

I dont know if its coincidence, but we did a water change when we noticed the odd fry (eg they spawned just before a water change) and we are due to do another now...

I'm now wondering weather to leave the water change as i dont want to go disturbing them?

They are swimming about like mad in groups of 2-3 and swimming in and out of the plants - I'm sure I've seen the T position too..

Finger crossed.
