As promised, pictures of Pecky.

She was asleep but I woke her up, whoops.

Ah freedom!

So, Pecky spends her days outside in her own pen, free ranging, and the nights inside on my kitchen counter - hardly ideal but better then getting beaten up by the Bad Girls all the time. We have to make her a proper individual coop at the weekend, we didn't get a chance due to the terrible weather this weekend, so for the time being she's going to have to stay a kitchen chicken.

You can see where her wing feathers are growing back now - very quickly too. I think she'll be really lovely when she's fully feathered again, she's a lovely creature. Chickens are just *so* interested in everything, and surprisingly therapeutic to talk to while you cook, they tip their head on one side and look and listen to everything. Wonder what she makes of all this?

I do agree :) they are such lovely animals. Pecky is lovely and looks a bit like a big momma

I had a chicken once that I picked up in an empty parking lot on a Sunday when the store was closed. This was back in South Africa, but it was like the equivalent of picking up a strolling chicken in a central London Tesco's parking lot. Insane and I wonder how on earth she ever got there. She was gorgeous and in my opinion one of the prettiest chickens ever - I'll see if I can get a piccie of here somewhere. But sadly she died of Newcastle's disease :-(

Remind me not to eat at your house. :p Lovely chicken!

...as a rule, we don't let the chicken wander the work surfaces  I let her out to take these pics for the board, but she enjoyed being out again.

i have never heard of a kitchen chicken before :good: the only kitchen chicken i have is in a sandwich ;)
