I hope these pics are ok.....never posted any before. I weave baskets and have been doing so for about 2 1/2 years now. Back in November I had an open house at my house for my baskets. It went super I sold 34 baskets and only 18 people showed!

Thanks guys glad you like them!!
I am located in Maine

Very nice! How long does it take you to make one? How did you start? Did you teach yourself or take a class? Sorry for all the questions, I think that's a really cool hobby :*)

lol... I dont mind the questions - I get them all the time :D
I got started when a close friend of mine sent me a basket weaving kit. I was self taught and my first basket took me about 6 hours I think......lol (and it was a fairly small basket) I unwove and wove and unwove and wove.....lol Once I got done I was like HEY COOL! I then did another of the same basket - that time it only took me a couple of hours.....lol and looked WAY better. The majority of my baskets take me about an hour weaving time - I also dye my own reed, and once the basket is finished I brush stain them with a tung oil/ polyurethane stain. I make an ice fishing basket that takes me somewheres around 4 1/2 - 5 hours to make. It is a great and cool hobby for sure, and really is not very hard to do - just takes patience - there are times while weaving that I could make a sailor blush - but the finished product is so worth all the effort. The next basket I want to attempt is a stair basket - although I have heard nightmares about them so I have been kinda stalling......lol I know it is just a matter of time though because I have so many people interested in purchasing them - so I cant stall to much longer :D

they remind me of the old ones we have from Siciliy like the ones my grandfather used to make, keep up the good work

Been giving that ALOT of thought - one of the first questions I always get is- are you online? I do not have a site YET - but I am sure that is only a matter of time. Just gotta work out all the details with shipping costs and finding a web host and web building info. I also need to make sure that I expand at a pace that I can keep up with seeing as I dont have anyone working for me. One thing I never want to compromise is quality - that is what I pride myself on. So basically its a matter of time and details :D

well, if you do get your own site up, or if you start an ebay store, be sure to let us know!!!! :D
