Hello people i was looking for some info on wether you can paint the back of your tank or if putting scenery sheets is the only option? Ive hard of some people painting the tank but am abit warery about it.

Many thanks
Dan

Try plain paper first see if you like the look, I've got plain black paper on mine brings out the colour of the fish.

some people on here use bin bags. iv used a bit of painted card for mine and also a bit of black fabric.

You can paint the back of your tank. I own a few that I bought used that were already painted. I am not sure what paint they used that sticks well to clean glass though. Do not use oil based paint around existing fish tanks that are already running. The volatiles in that stuff are very poisonous to your fish.

Many thanks for all your advise. Will try all options i think, not got fish in tank yet as in process of painting living room so have time to play around.

I used some blue fabric and stuck it on with hot glue and it does the job nicely. I change my mind often, so I didn't want to paint it and be stuck with it. I had the proper aquarium backing stuff before and water kept getting in between the tank and the background and just wouldn't dry out and it just looked awful. Since changing to fabric, any water that does get down there dries off quick enough so it's not a problem.

Before this I did have a picture background but IMO it just looked tacky.

Sounds stupid but i used water based paint

its amazingly good and its also easy to strip

I used 2 large sheets of Black art card on the back of my 4ft... Really shows the plants off and the fish colours! Easy to get from a local art/craft shop if you have one attached with tape it's easy to remove if needed.

Mine has been on 6 years and is still perfect ;)
