Hi Guys,

I am looking for a new tank, Im trying to find what type I would like, would you mind posting a picture of your tank, am going hunting this weekend for one at the local aquiriums.

Cheers Mells

From what I've read (and not only for planted tanks) Mer Aquatica is the way to go for large tanks.
See this recent thread and this thread :)

I think it's so much easier to upgrade lights etc. that way.

I know for a fact I'll never again get a Tropiquarium (even though it was a 2nd hand bargain). Those things are impossible with their stupid hood design.

I am quite supprised how cheap there tanks are for the sizes, tempting.........
What do you reckon to Juwel Aquiriums?
Cheers for that one BlooZoo.

I have a Vision 180 and do think it's lovely. It's only about 48 Gallons though so not huge. But they make much larger ones too - you can quite often find a bargain on eBay if you look long enough.

That said, I do not think Juwel filters are great and would either recommend replacing with external or running in conjunction with external. Lighting is a bit rubbish too (but adequate) and ideally would need upgrading too. They only come with approx 1wpg. At the least you should add reflectors to the tubes.

i have a juwel..... its only a small one mind u (96ltrs) but spot on. only thing i would say is the lights are very bog satndard and may need upgrading!

My tank is an out of the box kit Juwel Rekord 70
I bought the cabinet to match with a cupboard underneath. If money was no object then I would buy a Juwel Trigon 190 or a Juwel Trigon 350.
So this will have to do for now.

P.S. The extra equipment was dearer than the initial cost of the tank and stand.

Here's a pic of my trigon 350 as an example:
