Just wondering if those of you with silver dollars could post some pics and tell me about the tankmates/tank size your SDs are in.

I've got 4 right now in a 55g tank with some small cichlids. I'm going to get a few more most likely. I've got 1 3'', 1 2'', and 2 1.5''

I've got a fish credit coming from a LFS that I plan on going into tomorrow. They've got 5-6'' nice looking large ones, that I think I will bring home if the credit is close enough. I'm hoping to move all my silver dollars to my 75g tank with my larger cichlids.

I've never seen mine nip anything, or fight amongst each other. Love silver dollars!

So if anyone wants to share their SD story, or post pics, I'd like to hear!

Thanks B) B) B) B) B)

I don't have anything interesting to say. Posted here by accident. SORRY! I don't have silver dollars. I do think they're pretty, but they are plant eaters.

I have 6 SDs in a 55 gallon with 4 pictus cats. Its got black gravel, a huge Malaysian stump in the middle, lava rock near the ends, and lots and lots of large and medium plastic plants. I'm only using actinic lighting which makes the painted blue background look really beautiful and the fish really love the lowered lighting!

These fish are really great and more and more everyday they grow on me.

Will get some pics soon and post them here!! :good:

I'm almost considering keeping a tank of only silver dollars... my cichlids fight/maim/kill each other so often it's becoming tired and old..

The more I think about it, the easier it would be to just keep my silver dollars.. wouldn't have to worry about moving fish everyday, changing water everyday, and maintaining 10+ tanks of fish that looove to cause problems with each other.

Couple of my smaller silver dollars have white eyes right now, so no pics from me.. they'd just be weird looking.. my cichlids have decided they no longer like the SDs.. so I've gotta find them another tank.

Sounds like a great plan to me. Cichlids are beautiful but their aggression makes up for the beauty a lot of the time. SDs are one of the most compatible fish with ALL types of fish, something you can't get out of many other types of fish. I think they're great!

Actually, there are plenty of fish that wouldn't do well with silver dollars so I wouldn't say ALL. :p
Now's not the time for a list, though.

I so didn't say that right, did I. LOL

What I meant was if there's a fish that has a higher probability to get along with all types, its the SD. That still didn't make sense! LOL

OK I'm gonna stop typing now. :look:
