Hey peeps,
Last week I bought some female bettas from wal mart, which none made it because of a fungus. :( I got a refund this week and now I have four new cuties!! :D
These girls seem to be doing ok, they have been at the store for a week now and they are active. They are really ripped up....

My question is how do you feed your frozen blood worms? Right now I use a toothpick. I let a bunch of worms hang from the toothpick and hover that above their heads so they eat them all at once.. otherwize they drop a bunch and make a mess....

And here are the pics....
This is my favorite... she's the smallest

Hmmmm.... no offense, but those females are in very rough shape. Are you giving anything to promote the re-growth of the fins? Chances are, if they're ripped, its from one another. I can see in your tank that you have no floor gravel and plastic plants; plastic plants are very rough on the fins of bettas, so silk or live plants should be used. I would reccomend a LOT of them, and maybe even some smooth material "caves" and other hiding places. Even though female bettas can live together happily, they often times will fight, and if it is proving to be a problem, much more shelter is needed, and in extreme cases separation. One of those girls even has "stress stripes," so she is either disturbed by the presence of the others, not feeling well, or fearful of the tank environment.

However, they're cute, lovely girls, and I'm sure with some work they'll be feeling better and growing in nice new fins ^^

:X Wal-Mart i don't blame you for the shape they are in, better with you then in the hands of Wal-Mart...they are really lovely besides the fact of the fins. As for the tank, just throw in some floating ferns and maybe a terra cotta pot on it's side for hiding, though i know you've heard it a million times over.

At wal mart they had these girls in a tank full of tiger barbs and large tetras... thats why they are ripped up badly. To help them with that I have added stress coat and some salt. This tank is really just a rehab center until I feel it's time to put them in w/ my other females in the 20g.

Thanks for the comments :)

I think what you're doing is great Idolz. I would love to have a female community setup someday. Rescuing fish feels great eh? The girls have nice colouring to them
It can sometimes be hard.... there are so many fish at too many pet stores that need to be rescued :(
