What is the best thing to remove algae from an outdoor pond? Also I'm afraid my fish aren't eating, I give them floating pellets but throw them hard to make sure they see them, but they never come and get them? Should I try a different kind of food? My cats were little brats tonight and kept trying to go fishing. One fell in, but came right back for more. Curiousity killed the cat, so they better straighten up.

What a beautiful new pond :). Oh and I love the cats walking around it. I'm assuming there are fish in there and i'm sure the cats are very curious

If the cats are constantly at the pool then the fish wont come up to feed. The pellets will eventually sink but see if you can get food that sinks when it hits the water. I think you will need a net or cover of some kind to keep the cats out because when they get older they will get better at hunting.

I have larger cats also, and the fish don't come up when they come around so that isn't a problem. The kitties were only out there b/c we were sitting out there playing with them. I will get some sinking pellets and try those. thanks~

I had some problems with local cats, but found some really good spray you can use around the garden to deter them.
It doesnt smell to bad to me,but it must be horrible for the cats cuz they havent come near the pond since.
Having said that,if they are your own cats, maybe you could try some of the "cat detterent" pellets sprinkled around the pond.
