He seems to be getting darker and darker as the days go on, does water temp have an effect on this type of stuff or is it genes cause due to it being hot my temp in some of the tanks in here is up around and sometimes over 86F, noticing no ill effects what so ever but I'm going to be keeping an eye on them

here's a pic of him when i 1st bought him

Looks like a cellophane marble to me. Beautiul DT.

My marbles tend to darken up the longer they chill out as well. Example, I bought a lovely grey delta at a LFS, and later, after he'd settled, he turned black. So, it could be as he's calming down, more of his marbling is coming in.

How long have you had him? maybe he was stressed, betta can be light colored when stressed, then they darken up, as they get comfortable too. :)

It's just the changing patterns of a marble. They do that through their lifetimes. Some more than others.

He's really, really cute, though. :)

I think marbles just get better and better :) I remember I bought a confetti plakat once and he turned pure black within a few weeks

Wow, he's looking great! getting nice and dark, i have a few marble boys, and they do get dark, and seem like a tottaly different fish, which is good for us betta people, seing how we like to get just a ton of them, it's like having a new fish when they do that  I have betta envy of that fish :)
