I have various journals and posts dotting around the forum, but i thought id post pictures of my actual tank and the inhabitants of it.

I got this tank for free (yes, free) after posting on my facebook wall asking if anybody wanted to give me a free tank - i had a biorb, and wanted something rectangular or square  . My friend's mum said yes, and i got an Eheim 80cm tank for free. She said she was sick of cleaning it, and wanted rid, so gave it to me. Just looking at it, i figured they kept the lights on for around 15 hours per day. The whole thing was algea ridden and i had to bleach it in the garden to get rid of it all. I don't think they'd cleaned out the filter in over a year either, it was disgusting.

After a few months, a few re-scapes, this is a full tank shot

a cupboard shot! I could kill for a shelf or storage boxes in there - it doesn't always look this tidy

Hey,great tank! :) Could you tell me, what are those green mushroom lookin pants in your last picture? They're pretty cool!

Your unknown shrimp looks to be a palmata shrimp to me. Does your figher not munch the shrimp though?

Nah! he ignores EVERYTHING in the tank. His fins were getting shredded (realised it was from the filter inlet pipe and some bogwood he liked to get stuck in) and i thought it was the other fish so i seperated him, he got stressed, ate his tail and ended up happily back in that tank. The only time he gets 'iffy' is if i place a bag in the tank for acclimatising, but as soon as the contents are put in the tank he doesn't care.

I've never heard of one of those shrimps before, no idea if my unknown one is or not. She bred before, but a lot of the babies died. I have her and two babies left

Nice looking set-up. Plants look VERY healthy.

My only critique would be the heater. Have you thought about placing it on one fo the sides? It does dominate the scape a little.

That it does haha. I don't really notice it, it just fades in to the background. On a picture though, its a bit static and blatant. Plants have taken quite some time to look as nice as they are, but thats what patience gets you
