I'm thinking of entering some of my juvies in the betta show in October just for the heck of it, and these are some of the ones I'm saving for that purpose.... at the very least I'll be listing them on Aquabid

First is the black fella.... God, I just adore him.
Yes, he does have that funny flesh-tone patch on his head, hehe

He's a real flaremachine!

His brother, who I was hoping was a sister so I could spawn them, but no such luck. I still want to breed with this one too though, because he has the nice thick body Wuv's reds have... Takes after his momma!

Bless this little guy's heart, he's missing a ventral, but he's still sooo pretty and has the best personality ever! (This is the one I'm planning to send to you Elise, if that's ok? )

There was actually a sibling in the tank with him when I took this shot, but was he flaring at his brother? Nooo, he was flaring at me! (I put them together briefly to get them to flare... don't worry, they never came into contact. I watched them like a hawk)

On a side note~ I notice you saying you want to breed two of them. That's my favorite part of the entire breeding thing, I always want to work with my own fish when something original pops up. Even my current wee babes- I'm scanning for possible pairs and I've already found a few. Who needs new fish when you hve so much variety at home?

Yeah, I got about 25% marbles (and still have some popping up), so I guess both parents carried the gene. The odd thing is though, I thought redloss was a dominant gene, but all the marbles have it and the parents both had red in them?
I'm definitely going to breed the black one and the thicker grey bro, and thinking about forming another pair if the one who isn't through changing turns out like Blondie II like I think he will

About the show... what do I need to do to get them entered and everything? I assume there's an entry fee? I'm going to the show myself, so if I decide to enter some I can just pack them up and bring them with me unless that's not as convenient for you guys as sending them in... I'd probably get there on the Friday before the show. I'm super excited already

You can just walk them in on Friday or Saturday and I'll log them in and you pay their entry fee. You can show novice or in regular classes,your choice. But once you show in regular you can't go back to novice.


I'm under the opinion that the red-loss is lurking from the oranges still, I'm having some real oddballs popping up over here as well. Yellows in my marble spawn.....? And a yellow in that accidental spawn. Seems fishy to me.

and the marble girl/not sure ish is exactly like blondie two except for an almsot clear body and all black caudal and anal fin. shes my favorite. even has the red lips. i tihnk i will dub her blondie III

I was gonna send a marble for your friend as well, but he is having bloat/swimbladder problems at the moment and I didn't want to risk mailing him like that... I sent the cutest little runty guy instead. I figure if your friend is like me she'll fall for his teeny size

I am so jealouse. My two attempts at breeding were both failures. I got a post in government shortly after that and have not have time to try breeding again. A shipment arrived with a local hobbyist last week, and he has two dozen female plakats. Maybe it is time to get a few girls for my boys

Would love to have betta fry
