Hi,
This is a picture of my new tank and my new female betta 'missy'. Let me know what you think of my tank. I am going to be adding some type of cave in the middle because I plan on adding more females. Is that enough plants?

It all depends on how much you want to change the water. =3 The more plants=less changes. I personally think it has a lovely amount of plants, maybe once you put in the cave you'll feel more secure so there won't be that huge gap in the middle. Congrats on your new girl!

Hey, thanks for the complment! I also think once I add the cave in the middle I will feel better about it.
Missy seems to really like the plants right in the middle. She keeps swimming in and out of the stems!
Will the tank be ok to add 3 more females so that there will be 4 females in total in there? This is my first time setting up a female tank so im kinda nervous!
:)

4 would probably do it. I think you could easily accomodate 6 if it's just the girls.

Also, you may find that you need more plants. That's only a MAYBE, though. If your girls bicker when you get them in there a lot, add more plants. And caves and such and other places to hide.

Oh, yes, and, when you add the other females, you'll want to take Missy out and rearrange the tank, then put everybody back in.

Yeah, Missy'll be really territorial otherwise. Personally I'm gonna get 2 more for my 10 gal, (I've got 2 girlies waiting for me to get them so that they can get out of their lil Aquaviews) so you could easily handle more. Is that a 20g? Pieces of wood and things with nooks they can hide in makes the girlies really happy. Mine love goofing off in their plants too, and 'nap' on large leaves near the surface. =3

Hey,
Its actually only a 5 gallon... I couldnt fit the 10 gallon in my tiny room! So is 4 females going to be ok? I really want to have a girl tank!
Im also going to add a background as well so it does not look so blah :)

4 girls in a 5 gal would be really a tight squeeze! i don't know if there would be enough space for them to establish their territories. 10 gal is the minimum reccomended for a female community.

the plants and the tank look great though! :D

Only a 5? Hmm.... That can be worked with easily enough, so long as you're more diligent about your water changes than you may otherwise be.

i thought that was a 10G ...

here you had me all WHOA THATS HUGE!! and come to find out... its not a 10 -_-

i thought you just loved spoiling fish that much :p hehe 2 bettas in a 10! BAHH!... i would house one in a 10 :p hehe :D but thats just me!

I dont have a problem doing water changes at all. Come to think about it I actually look forward to it... Am I weird?
How many times and how much would you say need to be changed weekly?
So some of you are saying 4 is ok.. kinda...and others are saying no... Hmmmm... What to do? :dunno:
I have a extra 10 gallon but as you can see it defentally wont fit in the only free space in my room! I already have a 10 gallon in my room with community fish, not to mention the 6 other tanks (with male bettas) that are in my room! The 5 gallon is the only possible tank that can fit...

Honestly, I think it will be fine so long as you test it regularly and keep it clean. Also, plant it heavily if you see ANY sort of aggression.

how about this... add an extension (?) to the thing your 5 is sitting on so that way you can have the 10 HEHE :shifty: thats what i would do! :p but im also a carpenter (funny thing is... thats my BFs last name)

no your not weird I LOVE water changes is the second most interactive part of fish keeping!

:) hehe the first is feeding them

I will defentally add more plants if im seeing any type of agression. Im not planning on getting of the females intill I can get the 'perfect' cave or caves for the tank.
I just hope when I go back to where I got missy they have the pretty female bettas that were there before. Females over here in Canada are pretty scarce around where I live.
Ill also try and get a better picture of missy. She kinda blends in with the tank... And my camera is not the greatest!
Haha, I would add an extention but honestly there is just no room! I will try and take some pics of all my tanks for you guys to see how jam packed my room is with fish!!!
