ok, well i need to start a copepod culture and a phytoplankton culture. i'm going to buy some copepods to start that culture. but i read somewhere you can use algae disks to start a phytoplankton culture? so i put some in a hexagon tank and all just like everywhere said with airand all that. but can the algae disks really start a phytoplankton culture or should i just buy a started culture? thanks!

I'd buy a started culture. Ask Matt, he's done it :)

Hi,

I used 10ml of phyto from the LFS they use it in the tanks and so I said I'll have 10ml off you for a £1 or so. used a 2l coke bottle and as you said a air line. fed them with plant food from the garden cnt. Start of adding 1ml then 5ml, so the water looks the colour of the food. When the phyto is so green you can't see through it bottle half and top up with free saltwater and repeat prosses.

Might start mine up again!
