Anyway, it doesn't always have to be the quality of the photo that wins. I could take a GREAT photo of a piece of lego... how boring is that?!

someone could take a lesser-quality pic of a dwarf puffer stalking a snail - i know which one i'd vote for!

And if you do months like "funny caption month" then the photo doesnt really matte. As long as we can tell what's happening and the cation is funny, anyone has a chance of winning.

If you don't like it, you don't have to join in. But at least let other people have a bit of fun.

I think this forum needs some fun things, like an off-topic section (dont shout at me). I feel this forum has no community spirit at all, whereas others are like a huge family.

i love the sound of those rules, but would it be okay basing this forums rules on another forums?

I don't see why not - it's not copyright protected!

Also, I think the OP is doing a really good job of researching and improving this idea, so flaming by Ace of Spades - very unnecessary.

who cares if people cheat? you're not losing out on anything.........

We care. The unplesantness, rows, name calling, vendetta's and other trouble spilled out of the competitions and started appearing all over this website. That is why we don't have XotM competitions any more.

Let those who wish to compete, do so there is no prize so I really dont see why it'd be such a problem if somone cheated, its not like theres a cash reward

If this is going ahead anyway regardless of whether people think it's a bad idea then I'm curious to know why a thread was started in the announcements section asking for people's opinions?

I'm sure all the mods will agree that it will cause unnecessary problems and as some of the only members who have seen these competitions come and go in the past it is them who have to be listened to.
