Whoa! What's your substrate? What salt did you use? What's in the tank now?

Sg level would be great too.

Hi I am getting ready to set up my 270l tank (this is my first marine tank) and just tested the tap water to check the ph and it was 6.5 I have H2o Ocean salt will this raise my ph ???I am keeping a FOWLR

Ok so the ph is not from tank water?


If so best to make up the salt water add it to tank then measure the ph

And don't add anything until all water readings come right

Live Rock and aragonite sand will buff the pH up. It needs to be from 8.0-8.5

Don't make me crazy then, do you understand that how your phrased your initial post made me think that you already had a tank with saltwater with a pH of 6.5?

7.8- 8.4 is fine. What you want is consistency.
