DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW DO CHANGE YOUR PH LEVEL AS IVE RECENTLY BOUGHT A TANK I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW THIS AS I AM DOING A SOUTH AMERICAN THEMED TAnk what do you think the average ph is for this theme also as i a m keeping discus can you use de humidithier water/rain water with peat in the water butt/ro water thankyou

Discus would do best in pH6.5 to 7.0 but the important thing is not what i say they want it is what they are used to so ask the shop for their water param's, Rain water might be okay depending on where you live?. But if you are unsure go for RO water but remember that it will need minerals putting back in.

As for controlling pH you could use Co2 since you want an amazonian setup lush plant grow would be in order which the Co2 would benefit greatly.

reading the post I half detect that you might be new to fishkeeping, and discus probably isn't the best place to start.

Hope this helps

You could put some driftwood in your tank. It will not only look beautiful, but will lower your pH and soften the water -- perfect for discus.

do a search of this site using keyword "driftwood", and you'll see alot of info.

and it just so happens that I'm selling some nice pieces of driftwood for very cheap. (it costs an arm and a leg in stores). I bought them specifically because I was going to set up a discus tank. I decided to go the opposite and do Malawi mbuna, so I'm looking to sell these pieces.
email me if you are interested
