Hi! We just got a new betta a week ago and have named him Zig Zag. He is in a 2.5 gallon tank, we filled it with well water and do use water conditioner, have a few real plants in there, he seems happy and swims around quite a bit, he's pretty active, eats well (a few grains of food once a day but he seems like he's starving so we'll add a few more as needed) responds to us, and is building a bubble nest. Question - When we first put in the water the ph was 7.2 using our own well water with the conditioner. I didn't adjust it because I figured it was very close to 7.0 I just tested the water 1 week later and it is now up to 7.6 Should I change the water now (was told to take out 1/3 of the water every 2 weeks and use water conditioner in the replacement water - is it best to remove the fish during this or let him stay in the tank?) or should I just put the ph down into the tank following bottle directions? Are bettas actually all that fussy since it isn't terribly high? Thanks for your answers :) !

naw dont mess with it bettas are cool with a ph between 7-8 so its not like hes gunna get sick over it. i find fish do much better wen u dont mess with ph and a whole lotta chems. i use my well water to and the ph in my guppy tank in like 8 the fish thrive in it and so far no problems.

Well, I would use pHDown because i would be afraid of it getting to high. I would use a small portion. 7.6 is getting really close to there peek of 8 :X
